Discovery of Ganshoren cemetery

Explore Ganshoren Cemetery, which was used from 1878 to 1976. Most of the graves belong to civilians but some to political figures. Part of the cemetery has been specially designed for soldiers who died in battle! Developed after the First World War, it includes a unique treasure: come and discover the tomb of a former American aviator, Sergeant Sorensen, who is one of the few not to be buried in an American cemetery!

In Belgium, only 8 American soldiers are not buried in an American cemetery. Every May, Memorial Dayis celebrated in honour of all men and women who died in conflicts fought by the United States.
